Why is "Like" still showing up as an option on my individual posts?

Disabled like button on individual posts, following the directions here: http://en.support.wordpress.com/likes/

And despite doing everything outlined in the above it’s still allowing people to like my new posts. What gives?

Before I post I make sure the “Show Likes On This Post” option is unchecked and people are still liking them once they go live.

    Top of the day!

This is a really nice blog. I’m almost tempted to get a micro pig of my own.

As for your issue, I looked at a few of your recent posts. Currently, I only see the “Share” buttons, and no “Like” button. Here’s my view:

Which buttons are you looking to turn off?

    Cheers,

    Why thank you!!

I’m not sure what buttons I need to turn off. I am still getting updates that “XXXX has liked your blog post” and thought that would be disabled right?

    Hi there,

You should be able to disable Likes/Updates site-wide by following the steps below.

By default, all WordPress.com blogs display the Like button under each post and display the gallery of Gravatars for bragging rights. This includes your site.

But, if you would prefer to keep these features off your blog posts, you can do so by visiting Settings -> Sharing.

Select the button that says Turned on per post, and click Save Changes. The like button will no longer appear when readers visit your posts. (The Like button will still appear in readers’ toolbars.)

You can read more about “Likes” by visiting the support doc below.

    Add a Like Button

Hopefully this helps sort things out. If you have any questions about this, or anything else, I’m just a contact form away.

    Cheers,
    Shawn
