Why is my Audio player no longer visible through firefox?

Why is my Audio player no longer visible through firefox yet still visible through chrome and explorer (although it looks like the player has changed in appearance with those two browsers). Is this a WP update that Firefox is not recognizing. I have reset cache and deleted cookies. Hope you can help!

We have had to temporarily disable the Flash audio player. If your browser does not natively support the format of the embedded audio file, you’ll see a download link instead.

    At this time:

    • Chrome natively supports: .mp3, .m4a, .wav, and .ogg.
    • Safari natively supports: .mp3, .m4a, .wav, but not .ogg (which will display a download link).
    • Firefox natively supports: .wav and .ogg, but not .mp3 and .m4a (which will both display a download link).
    • Opera natively supports: .wav and .ogg, but not .mp3 and .m4a (which will both display a download link).
    • Internet Explorer natively supports: .mp3, but not .m4a, .wav, and .ogg (which will all display a download link).

What formats a browser chooses to natively support is entirely up to the browser’s developers, we have no control over that.

Until now, we have given the Flash audio player precedence, fallen back to the browser’s native player when Flash isn’t available, and then fallen back to the Download link when the format is not supported by the browser.

With the Flash player temporarily disabled, we are giving the browser’s native player precedence and falling back to the Download link when the format is not supported by the browser.

Whether it’s via an embedded player or a Download link, all of your viewers will be able to play the audio files.

Thanks for the quick response. I really do hope it is a temporary malfunction as I subscribed to WP for the “audio player” function. It plays well and looks more appealing on a blog, and also allows the reader to listen to the music sample I have uploaded while reading about that track on the same page, which the current “download” link does not allow…as far as I can tell. And I do not wish to change browsers at this stage and know most my colleagues also use firefox.
Do you think WP will work together with Firefox’s flash player again?

We are working on bringing the player back. There were some security vulnerabilities with the flash player that need to be updated. I don’t have a timeframe when this will be fixed – but it will be in the near future.

    I hope that helps!
