Why is my categories widget not working?

  I have several categories for my blog (all are top level categories) and I am using the Categories widget in my sidebar. However, these categories do not appear on my website! In the widget, it shows that there are no existing categories. How can I fix this?

  The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

  Hi there! Do you have blog posts filed under these categories? By default, the categories widget doesn’t show empty ones.

  I did not have any posts under these categories. *facepalm* I should have guessed that one, I’m silly. Thank you so much!
