Why is my CNAME entry not pointing to wordpress.com yet?

Why is my CNAME entry not pointing to wordpress.com yet? It has been over 24 hours since I changed the DNS records but wordpress still says it needs to be updated. I have chatted with the support for our domain host and they checked to make sure everything was set up properly for the CNAME entry. Is there something wrong on the wordpress.com end?

The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

What is the URL in question here please?
Did you follow through with domain mapping purchase and complete the set up?

I already own a domain name
If you would like to use your domain name purchased elsewhere and map from your free hosted wordpress.com blog to it, then you will first need to set up domain mapping. http://en.support.wordpress.com/domains/map-existing-domain/

After you make the domain mapping purchase here > Dashboard > Store > My Upgrades and do the primary blog set up it can take between 24 – 72 hours for domain name propagation to take place throughout the internet. You can view the DNS changes here > http://www.whatsmydns.net/ What’s important during that stage is to be patient.

If you are using a CNAME then you are probably mapping to a sub-domain. Are you using the instructions below?

I’m trying to make fairtradewinds.wordpress.com into blog.fairtradewinds.com. Right now our website (fairtradewinds.net) is hosted on Volusion so that is where I changed the CNAME records and added the domain. Could there be an issue because our website is .net and wordpress.com blogs only supports .com?

Do we have to switch over the primary blog to blog.fairtradewinds.com first, and then wait for the DNS records to be updated? I tried that but then our blog doesn’t work so it will be inactive for the 24-72 hours it could take for the domain name propagation to take place and that is not ideal.

No, many .net names mapped here

Follow the instructions in the link I gave above – EXACTLY – stop jumping around and thinking you know more than the engineer that wrote the instructions – those instructions have been working for some time

It looks like your CNAME is still not correct – fix that first – looks like you have domain mapping of some sort set correctly – but double check it also

    Verify the CNAME here: http://www.whatsmydns.net/#CNAME/fairtradewinds.net
