Why is my comment still waiting approval?

Why is my comment still waiting approval?

I’m starting up a new blog – this is the 2nd time I’m emailing regarding the same thing. I made a comment on another blog as I read this is the best way to interact and gain followers.

However that 1st comment is STILL waiting for approval! Why?

    Thanks.

The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

It could be that the blogger is enjoying the holiday season and has not logged in and approved your comment as yet. Also know that no blogger has to approve any comment submitted to any post or any page on their blog.

Also note that this is the first forum thread you have created on this or any issue https://en.forums.wordpress.com/profile/20somethingsearchingforsomething

Thanks for replying so fast – I’m sure I emailed the last time, with no response, but I realise this way is different and much better!

‘Also know that no blogger has to approve any comment submitted to any post or any page on their blog.’ – not sure what this means… does every comment made on a blog need approval by the blogger/creator?

    Thanks

Sorry, I’ve re-read this. You mean its their decision to approve a comment or not.

Will that be the same if someone were to leave a comment on my page or do you have to set this up?

    Thanks.

The answer is yes if they have set up comment moderation as I do on my blogs. In these days of opportunistic marketing and advertising wherein we are flooded with spam and comments that are crap, I don’t have anonymous commenting going on, and I don’t post a comment that does not comply with my commenting policy.

I check out every comment and if I feel they are meaningless comments that add nothing to the discussion and are made only as a means of getting my readers to click back to the commenter’s sites then I delete those comments.

Setting up comment moderation is strictly up to you. It is not automatic.

Be ware that the vast and overwhelming majority of all so-called information on the internet is spam. Over 80% of all so-called comments submitted to .wordpress.com blogs every day are spam. Spam comes in waves. There are human beings who get paid to post spam masquerading as comments. There are robotic programs that post spam masquerading as comments.

This page > Settings > Discussion is where you set up defaults for comments. http://en.support.wordpress.com/settings/discussion-settings/

    Discussion Settings
    Other comment settings
_Comment author must fill out name and e-mail
_Users must be registered and logged in to comment

Note that the prompt to submit and email address and a website URL will still appear, but providing an email address and logging in are not required, and you cannot change this so the prompt does not appear.

You can post instructions for your visitors in a text widget if you wish to set up anonymous commenting. That’s easy to do. You copy and paste this into a text widget:

Readers: Note that the email address and logging in prompts do appear for comments on this blog, but providing an email address and logging in are not required.

P.S. My advice is do be sure to set up full comment moderation ie. “An administrator must always approve the comment” because anonymous commenting is bound to increase the amount of spam your blog will receive. http://en.support.wordpress.com/settings/discussion-settings/#comment-moderation
