Why is my coworker getting spammed by my blog?
-
My coworker received a google alert because I mentioned Devils Postpile National Park in a blog post. When he clicked the link it automatically installed the ask.com tool bar on his computer. He gets a bunch of these kind of alerts every day so I know it’s not on his side. I was just wondering if you’ve ever heard of this happening before, because I really don’t want that to happen when people visit my blog.

Google Alerts are something that the receiver sets up. We are not connected to the alert system.
The way Google Alerts work is that whenever they see a word or string of words in set criteria (new sites, blogs I subscribe to, etc), they’ll receive an email. For example, a celebrity may want to set a Google Alert for every time their name is mentioned on a major gossip site.
Your coworker should be able to disable the alters from the Google account.
Also, we are not affiliated with Ask.com and never we install software, so that either came from Google or another site that was visited earlier.

Thanks for the reply macmanx.
That’s what I figured I just thought better to ask then not. -
