Why is my custom domain not working?

    We were just reissued our domain that was cancelled (see https://en.forums.wordpress.com/topic/why-is-my-custom-domain-no-longer-workingbeen-deleted?replies=1 for more details) but when I put it as my primary domain it kept telling me that I needed to change the DNS. This is the free domain we got with our upgrade so we should need to change any DNS, correct? I would really appreciate your assistance with this matter as this is a live blog already being seen by clients.

    When a domain is returned, our domain provider normally resets the DNS to allow it to work as expected on WordPress.com without any additional action by you or by us.
