Why is my default homepage/site home not in the list of ‘pages’?

Yes, another WordPress newcomer here. I am a litte confused about site structure and how the homepage functions in relation to the rest of the site. When I set up my domain and ‘installed’ a WordPress theme – a homepage/landing page was created – although this page does not appear in the pages list. Only extra pages I create appear in that list. As such I seem to only be able to make changes to the homepage via the ‘themes’ then ‘customise’ options. All other pages can be edited and accessed via the ‘pages’ menu. I can’t, for instance, work out how to insert a text block on the homepage (below the banner) to add an introductory text above the following content (blog posts).Ideally I would like the homepage of the site to display the following (in order, top to bottom) Title/menu, banner, full width block with intro text (sticky), three column blog posts. Can anyone advise on how to do this?
Also – can I change the homepage to another page I create in the pages list? And, lastly I have sidebar widgets included on the pages I have added but these do not appear on the homepage. I can not find any option within the theme controls to allow this…

Apologies, but we can’t help with your issue directly because we don’t host your site on our WordPress.com managed hosting.
To explain, we are a fully managed hosting provider and use a custom server environment that is optimized for WordPress, provides built-in security and performance improvements, as well as in-house support for your site questions.
Because of the way we’ve optimized our service, we also use a customized version of WordPress that is different (under the hood) from what you use at your current provider. As a result, we do not have access to your site and are not familiar with the source of your issue.
You definitely have the option to move your site to us so we can provide in-house help, but as it stands now, we cannot help since it is hosted elsewhere. The good news is that help is available here at the open-source WordPress forums: https://wordpress.org/support/forum/how-to-and-troubleshooting
