why is my domain expiring?

  • Unknown's avatar

    I am concerned that I am getting a lot of emails that says the domain for pz-designs.com is going to be available imminently.
    I renewed my package in March this year for the premium package which should include payment for the domain as well.
    Here is a screenshot link of my bill:

    Can you confirm that my domain for pz-designs.com has been fully paid for and I am not in danger of losing it. Also why do you think I am suddenly getting all these emails (sometimes up to 4 a day).

    Many thanks,

    Laila

    Hi @timethief,

    Thanks for your help. I actually thought I was filling in a support ticket to staff and found it here :/

    why do you think I am suddenly getting all these emails (sometimes up to 4 a day).

    Who are the email’s from and are they through Domains by Proxy? (they are keeping your personal info private)

    You might be the target of a scam of some sort. But the staff can help with that – I get renewal or register junk scams on a regular basis – sometimes I find it amusing and forward it to my ISP (they are also my registrar) so we can both chuckle a bit – but some of the emails can be very terrifying with their language

    Hi @auxclass,
    Yes some are from Domains By Proxy… what do you mean when you said ‘they are keeping your personal info private’? :/

    I hope it’s just a scam…

    Thank you for you help ^__^

    Domain by Proxy is trash! Don’t be sucked in. Toss everyone of those emails from those leeches into the trash can and blog on.

    @auxclass
    Good catch! I loathe those parasites.

    Domains by Proxy hides your personal info for you from someone doing a whois on your domain name – you pay I think $ 8.– / year through your WordPress.COM upgrades – (the Private Registration I think it is called) – all domain name registrations need to have certain contact info as public – it is an internet rule –

    if you do a whois on your domain name and look at the information it will show Domains by Proxy as the contact info – so someone can get the info there and send you an email but it is filtered through Domains by Proxy so nobody on the internet gets your personal info –

    @auxclass
    Maybe I’m confused. I thought it was the company that send me notices every year and tries to get me to transfer my domains to another registrar for almost double what I pay now.

    @timethief
    Hahaa! I shall indeed toss those nasty emails! If I could be bothered, I’d print them off and set them of fire! ;P

    Thanks again ^__^

    @auxclass – thank you

    Ah I understand now. It all sounds a bit weird, but oh well…

    Domains by Proxy is legit – but the email I think (I don’t use them – my info is way public) would show a Domains by Proxy return – but the links in the email wanting you to transfer your registration to the high priced scam is where the scam would be – yes a scam email filtered through a legit company –

    I think my test domain has private registration with it – guess I have a new test project – :)

  • Unknown's avatar

    Lol! Test project! Enjoy ^___^

    You should also receive an email through domains by proxy with a whois link in it – just sent it

    the email that came through my proxy was to the proxy with the email account in the from line that I used to send it to my self

  • Unknown's avatar

    I can see who the original email that domains by proxy has basically forwarded to me…

  • Unknown's avatar

    Please ignore that e-mail you received. Your domain won’t expire until 2014-03-23. You can manage your upgrades at https://pzdesigns.wordpress.com/wp-admin/paid-upgrades.php?page=my-upgrades

    Sorry for the inconvenience.

    Thank you for the reassurance @kardotim :)

    I knew it wasn’t going to expire until next year, but thought there was a glitch or something, as this is the first time I’ve received such emails from Domains by Proxy.
