Why is my e-mail address still connected to my old account?

  • Unknown's avatar

I tried to delete my account, this isn’t possible so I tried to change my email address of this account to my “spam” e-mail address. I can still log in to this account with my old password, so it didn’t work. I want to start a new account with my first e-mail address but WordPress is telling me it’s already been used, what isn’t possible because I changed it into my spam e-mail address. I already confirmed my “spam” e-mail address but I didn’t get the activate e-mail. Please do something about this.

I meant old e-mail address in the third line.

    Hello there,
you have two separate email address settings at WordPress.com.

Blog notifications for the admin (like comment moderation, Likes, new subscriptions, etc) are sent to the email address at Settings -> General in the Dashboard.

Personal notifications (like comments on your post, subscription emails, and upgrade renewals) are sent to the email address at Users -> Personal Settings in the Dashboard.

Try changing it at http://wordpress.com/#!/settings/ first.

If that doesn’t work, try Users -> Personal Settings in your blog’s Dashboard.

  • Hi there qwertyuiolkjhgfdsa,

We are aware of some users getting their old email addresses cached in our system: we’re working on a fix right now, and it should be deployed soon.

    I hope that helps!
