Why is my email change pending for so long?

Hi, about four days ago I changed my email but it still shows as pending. Please let me know if this length of time to approve a new email is normal or if there’s some issue I need to address. Thank you.

Followup question regarding “Why is my email change pending for so long?” Well, I just noticed that on my About Page my Gravatar photo and mini profile are now missing (it was there before). Could it be missing because my new email is still pending?

    Hi there,

Can you confirm the email address you wish to have on your account? Just a note, the email address will appear redacted within the forum, but it will appear correctly to staff members.

Also, your Gravatar profile is appearing correctly on your About page currently:

    About

For the profile to appear correctly, the email address on your account will need to match that on your Gravatar account. Does that make sense? The information on that page is displayed by default until you edit the page content.

Thank you, I see that my Gravatar profile is back on my About page. However, under my settings, I still see the message, “There is a pending change of your email to (Redacted). You’ve asked me to confirm this email, but have not received instructions on how to do so. Please advise.

    Hi there,

Under your Settings found here, I’m seeing the pending change as well:

    https://wordpress.com/settings/account/

However, it looks like your email address was successfully changed. So, you can click the “Cancel” link next to this notice. I believe this may have just been a duplicate of trying to change the address on your account multiple times. It looks like the email is correctly set!

Ok, thanks, I’ve clicked the “cancel” link and the “pending notice” disappeared. Let’s just hope nothing else disappears — my blog, wordpress.com, or the universe…

    Hi!

Nothing else should disappear. So, if you notice anything amiss, please let me know!

Hi Jeremylduvall, I am addressing you directly, because you resolved my last issue expediently. However, a week ago I requested help on another issue (copied below), but no one ever got back to me. I would really appreciate your help on the following issue:

My About page displayed my default Gravatar profile, which I was happy with. But when I tried to add a “Contact Form” to my About page, my Gravatar profile disappeared. I then tried to revert back to the way it was, but was unsuccessful. Would support please revert my About page back to how it appeared on April 21, 2014, so that my Gravatar profile is back on this page? The url is now http://williamwesleyfilms.com/about-2/ and I don’t think the original page url had a “2” at the end of it. Could that be the issue? Please excuse my ignorance, as I am new to website/blog creation. Also, as I was trying to add a “Contact Form” to this page, would you please add it (if possible), so that my About page displays both my Gravatar profile and a Contact Form? Thank you!

The blog I need help with is williamwesleyfilms.com.

    Thank you!

    Hi!

First, it looks like you have an About page in your page Trash here:

    https://williamwesleyfilms.wordpress.com/wp-admin/edit.php?post_status=trash&post_type=page

The “2” is added to the end of the page URL when you create another page with the same name. So, for example, since there was already a page titled “About”, the second page you created that was titled “About” had a “2” added to the end to differentiate it from the first one. Does that make sense?

To fix this, just highlight over the deleted page on the link above. Click “Restore”. That will return the page to your current pages list here:

    https://williamwesleyfilms.wordpress.com/wp-admin/edit.php?post_type=page

Highlight the newer “About” page (the one with the #2) which will say “Published 4/22” in the right column and click “Trash”. Now, you should have the original “About” page up and running.

Regarding the Gravatar profile and the contact form, the Gravatar profile is put there mainly as a placeholder until you add additional content. So, when the page is blank, the Gravatar will display. However, when you add content, the Gravatar profile will disappear. Not to worry! We can get both on the same page.

First, we’ll need to manually input the Gravatar information into your About page rather than having it automatically added. You can do this multiple ways. The easiest would be to copy and paste your profile info from Gravatar.com into the page.

Once you have that set, you can add your contact form following the instructions here:

    http://en.support.wordpress.com/contact-form/

At the end, your page should look something like this:

    Screen Shot 2014 04 28 at 8 34 24 AM

Notice, I’ve included my Gravatar profile information as well as a contact form.

Please let me know if you have any additional trouble!

Jeremylduvall, thanks for the help! I was able to make all those corrections the way you suggested. I have another small question: I posted about four new posts yesterday (with video), but I don’t see them in the SERPs yet. Could it be because it’s too early (i.e., they haven’t been crawled yet) or because these posts’ titles are too similar and thus considered “duplicate content,” which may preclude them from being indexed or otherwise showing up on SERPS? Thank you!

Great! Your “About” page is looking good. I believe this is just a case of search engines taking a little bit of time to update. Although the post titles are similar, they should still be indexed separately. Let’s give the posts a week or two and see if they start to come up then!
