Why is my email notification missing the image?
-
A few months ago I noticed the that image that would appear in the mail notifications of my published posts was missing. Is there a setting that I need to change to include the image?
The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

Hello there!
Could you please check that your image is correct and update in these two places:
https://makingmebold.wordpress.com/wp-admin/options-general.php
and
https://makingmebold.wordpress.com/wp-admin/users.php?page=grofiles-editorOnce that’s done, please confirm this with me. When you post next, let me know if an image does appear with your email notification. It should be the author-of-the-post’s Gravatar that appears next to the title/byline.
Looking forward to hearing from you. Thanks very much.

I’m not referring to my profile image. I mean the image that I have in my post. It used to be included in the emails. I noticed the same thing happened to another site that I administer, celebraterecoveryontheplateau.org.

Hello there!
Thanks for the further explanation of your issue. Could you please send me a link to post that DID display as you expected in your email notifications? I will take the 2nd to last post (http://wp.me/p2rTd6-1ug) as an example of a post that didn’t appear as you wished.
Also, please send me a screenshot of the corresponding email notifications for these two posts. You can simply upload the screenshot to your Media Library, like any other image, and I’ll be able to access it from there.
The page at the following link has some helpful tips for taking screenshots:
Just let me know when there is something I should look at.
In the meantime, I will Follow your site via email so I can receive the next notification and see how the images display.
You may wish to put your image toward the very beginning of your post. You have opted to send only a summary to your followers. This setting can easily cut off the image from your emails.
I’ll keep an eye out for your response. Thanks!

Robyn, I guess I was confused. In looking for emails with images for my own personal blog, ardisanelson.com, I couldn’t find any emails with the image. It was only the second blog that I administer, celebraterecoveryontheplateau.org that was having the problem. I loaded the print screens of emails in the media library of both of those sites.
Also, I have the celebraterecoveryontheplateau.org blog set to only publish the summary as well. It has been set that way since its inception. On most of the posts, there is only one image and it is the first thing in the post.
Let me know if you need anything else. I would like to be able to include an image in my personal site email notifications if possible.
Sorry for the confusion.

I forgot to provide the link that goes with the post related to the email that has the image in it.

Hi there!
This now makes total sense :) Thank you so much for the further explanation!
Your post images will only display if you choose to utilize a full post display, rather than a Summary in your feed. Those settings are here:
https://celebraterecoveryontheplateau.wordpress.com/wp-admin/options-reading.phpHowever, I have a little trick for you, that you might like :)
If you utilize the Excerpt box in your post, your chosen excerpt will appear in your email. This includes the image you choose. For instance, take a look at this email notification I received, based on a mock-excerpt I created for you:
https://cloudup.com/ccnq1OwmeV8This is what the Excerpt looks like in my post editor:
https://cloudup.com/ihsBJYavG6TNotice I’ve clicked on the Text tab above my content box. It allows me to see the html version of my post. I copied/pasted the first image as well as the first paragraph. I added them to the excerpt box, then I published the post.
You might like this because you can choose exactly the image and text you want to appear in your email notification. You don’t even have to choose the exact same content that’s in your post, if you’d rather mix it up!
Feel free to create a draft of a post…if you’d like me to take a look at it before it goes out, I can tell you if you’ve done it correctly.
I hope this helps! If you have any other concerns, drop me a note. Thanks much!
