Why is my "free" account billing me $18?

  I just received a charge for what I thought was a “free” basic site. Is this correct?

  That appears to be an annual renewal of your domain timothyobrien.org. The plan is free, but domains have a cost. You might review this annual cost in your billing. https://wordpress.com/me/purchases/billing

  darciemg is correct, this was for your renewal of the registration for timothyobrien.org

  Domain names must be renewed annually (this is a policy set by ICANN, the organization which oversees all domain registrars).
