Why is my front page showing an out of date quote & showing a link too long?

  My front page shows a quote I haven’t got, and messes up the display of the first post.

  try locating this post at the posts list, tick it and then trash it.

  Thanks. I don’t want to delete the post, though. I just need my front page to update to reflect the post content.

  check again if you have 2 different posts set as featured posts.

  @journo24blog: Your latest post is in a different font. Is this intentional? Did you copypaste the content from another source such as Word?

  However, if I preview my earlier theme again, it displays the same problem (an outdated quote and a link that’s too long)!

  Yes, I didn’t understand why it was in a different font and couldn’t find how to correct this. I can’t remember but think I wrote everything in another source and copied & pasted. Is there a way of correcting the font please?

  Edit the post, switch the editor to HTML, delete all of these:
  <span style="font-family:Arial;font-size:small;">
  and all of these:
  </span>

  If the first phrase shouldn’t be a quote, delete these as well:

  <blockquote>
  </blockquote>

  Never copypaste from other sources into the Visual editor, as it introduces bad code that can mess things up. When you have to paste, paste into the HTML editor, so that only the text will be pasted.

  But I don’t know what you mean by “outdated” quote or “link that’s too long”. Please be more precise: which quote? which link?

  Brilliant. Thanks. I will try that. The outdated quote and overlong link aren’t showing under my new theme (DePo). I will follow your advice then revert to Suburbia.

  That fixed the wrong font problem. If I try to revert to Suburbia, the preview still gives me a corrupted view (which I’d prefer not to publish) including the old font for my latest post! But not to worry – I’m happy with the DePo I’m using so I will continue with that. Thank you for your help, Justpi.

  You’re welcome. There’s nothing wrong in the code of your most recent published post now, so I would be very curious to see what’s wrong in Suburbia – if something is wrong. Keep in mind that the preview function isn’t completely reliable.
