Why is my gravatar does not show up?
-
At once, I typed in comments on a wordpress site with my wordpress account ‘logged out’. Then, next to that comment has showed up a default image of my gravater. I’ve checked whether my gravater and is still valid. I don’t want my gravatar turned into default image. My gravatar only show up in forums as you can see. Is it because it’s the reason I’ve logged out? Then, how can I make the gravatar show up, however my gravatar is already saved in my account.
The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

Have you consulted the FAQson the gravatar site?
These are the best practices for uploading your gravatar:
(1) Prepare the image prior to uploading it and make sure it’s no larger than 128 pixels X 128 pixels square.
(2) The image filetype has to be either PNG, GIF or JPG. Make sure the file name contains only letters and numbers – no special characters – and make sure all letters are in lowercase.
(3) Also make sure the image file name has an extension (Example – image.jpg)
(4) Note that there is a time delay while your gravatar image propagates.
(5) If you are experiencing problems then go to the gravatar site http://en.gravatar.com/ and read the FAQs as it contains common questions and answers to them http://en.gravatar.com/site/faq/
I hope this helps. See also > http://onecoolsitebloggingtips.com/2010/01/24/gravatar-avatar-blavatar/

I know how to upload a gravatar, but it ”doesn’t show up” and has defaulted once I logged out to type in comments. What is the reason and how can I fix it?
-
If you are not logged in to your wordpress account, then your gravatar won’t show up.
Your gravatar is connected to your wp account, so if you are not logged in the connection won’t work.
-
I know, that’s why I asked if there’s a way to return my gravatar back. Even when I’m now logged in and comment, the website that I wrote when I logged out still show up the default image.
-
If you made a comment while you were logged out, then the gravatar won’t change on that comment. You have a gravatar here in this forum; is that the one you are talking about?
Does it appear when you make comments while logged in?
-
Yes. The gravatar I’m using here is the one I wanted to replace the default image.
No. The second time I tried logged in and type in comments on the same blog and see if it works. Though, it still appears the default image.
I guess wp thought I was another user, because after I’ve typed in the comments, it said “waiting for moderation”. You know you have to type in email address and website, and I guess there might be problems too when the site admin approved it afterward, that means it saved somewhere. Usually there are no waiting for approval, but it does, even though I logged out and provide valid information.
-
I also can’t find out the reason why it appears here, but not in blogs. Some blogs appears, and the one I logged out and typed in comments don’t.
-
My gravatar has also stopped working. Occasionally it works but most of the time now it defaults to a generic image.
-
Mine doesn’t work either. It shows when you’re on the main page of my blog when looking at the Recent Comments widget. But if you click the link and read the comment, the angel picture is gone but instead shows this automated one:

Your Gravatar is tied to your email address. Make sure the email address you used in your comments is setup in your Gravatar account. You can do that from the Gravatar link in your WordPress.com profile page.
You should also make sure your Gravatar is rated properly. Most websites will only show Gravatars which are rated G.
@pornstarbabylon We can tell more if you tell us the link where you are seeing the Gravatar not work.

My gravatar is already rated for general audiences. But how can I show up my gravatar on the blog now that I once logged out and typed in comments? It doesn’t show up even I provided the right email address and in fact I already logged in to type in comments. Any advice please help!
-
@perfectionistgal It sounds to me like you may have used an email address that doesn’t have a Gravatar associated with it when you first left the comment or perhaps you made a typo in your email address when you left the comment while you were logged out.
You can’t go back and change the details for a comment after you leave one. Only the blog owner can modify comment details such as the email address after it is published. You could try asking the blog owner for help checking on that particular comment.
@timethief It’s better to upload an image that is 512 x 512 pixels or larger for Gravatars so it will look the best in the widest range of uses.
@1tess A Gravatar should show up whether you are logged in or logged out.
-
Thanks, I guess I made something wrong…perhaps wp thought I wasn’t the user as I logged out, therefore it cannot recognize and reconfirm that it was this user in order to secure users from faking addresses while they logged out?
It may also be a problem even when the blogger helps me to check for these particular comments because I wrote loads actually. So if the email address does not have a ‘typo’, then what should I change in order to make the gravatar show?
-
You cannot change anything except at your own site. Anyone can put in a comment using any particular email address if they know it, and the gravatar will show up.
-
I just changed themes, for different reasons. I now have the new Inuit Types theme and the gravatar issue is okay now.
-
I’m also having this issue in the ‘comments’ section down the right hand side

It was fine last night and has just started going to a generic image this morning.

Gravatar is doing something on their end, and unfortunately we don’t have any control over that. Hopefully it’ll get fixed soon.
