Why is my header not displaying correctly?

My header doesn’t display correctly. As far as I can see I have sized it correctly and the rest of the site looks ok but the header seems to have slipped behind the body of the page.

Did you size it to be 940px by 150px?
My recommendation would be to resize the image to these dimensions before uploading. Then upload it as the header image and choose to skip cropping.
You could use an online tool like http://www.photoshop.com/tools?wf=editor to get it to the right size if you don’t have software to do it on your computer.
Let me know how you make out.

Thanks Sandy, yes I sized it on photoshop before I uploaded. I don’t’ think that’s the problem because even when I tried just leaving the default header in there it seemed to have dropped behind the main body. I can’t figure out what’s happened at all

Ah that makes more sense. I was looking at the wrong site then.
I took a look at the theme you are using, Big Brother, and this is the way the header works by default.
On the theme page http://theme.wordpress.com/themes/big-brother/ it says
Note: The custom header looks best with a decorative background image, not a logo that’s designed to be displayed at a specific size.
You are able to change this, but you would need the Custom Design product add-on.
