Why is my media appears HUGE when clicked.
-
When I post an image, it appears fine on my page. When you click on the image, it takes you to a larger version of it. I like this feature, but I am wondering if there is anyway to scale down the pictures a tad. They are huge! I’d like the size to be the width of the header (pilcrow).
Any ideas on how to fix this?

Downsize them before you upload them, or link the image not to the File but to the Page when you upload. That constrains it.

When you insert an image, you can control how it is linked. If you insert the image directly into content, then you can put in whatever you’d like in the “Link URL” field. If you wanted to link to a smaller sized image made by WordPress.com, you could add some size options to the end of the WordPress.com image URL and use that as your image Link URL: http://example.com/filename.jpg?w=640
The “?w=640” part is what you need to add.
That’s just one option.
Another option is to do what raincoaster said and optimize before upload. See http://en.support.wordpress.com/media/image-optimization/
