Hi there,
The site should work fine for the IE users! Could you confirm from your users what version they’re using? We recommend IE9, but it should also work ok in IE8. Anything lower than that and you could run into some issues.
A little more information should help us figure out how to tackle this :)

Thanks for your quick response…..I web developer looked at it and said the following….,
He has IE9 on his computer, but when he went to my site it automatically went into compatability mode. Meaning it made him use IE7. He experienced all the problems I mentioned to you. Links not working and background showing through the drop down menu.
Please advise this is really making my business difficult to operate.
Thanks!
Todd

Hi there,
If he views it in compatibility mode, it will likely have issues – he should switch off compatibility mode. Here’s a bit more about various browser issues:
http://en.support.wordpress.com/browser-issues/Your users in general really shouldn’t experience these problems – do you have a couple of people approaching you about this, or is it one user?
Thanks for any clarification!

I have about 20 percent of my users experiencing the navigation issue. They all see to be using internet explorer. I asked this web developer to look at it for me. He said it automatically sends him into compatibility mode and doesn’t give him the option of not using compatibility mode. Im not sure if the compatibility mode is the source of the problem, but he mentioned that is what he saw. The main thing is a good portion of my customers are having the issue with the navigation.

Hi Todd,
We are trying to reproduce this but can’t.
Your web developer should see this “broken page” icon in their address bar:
http://d.pr/i/6jBQClicking on the page icon so that it’s no longer broken and is no longer blue turns off compatibility mode. Can he verify that he can NOT do this? Would it be possible for him to get a screenshot showing the inability to toggle between compatibility mode on/off and the broken navigation?
Cheers!

I used IETester and found the following:
1. When using IE 7 the links don’t work
Example
Pick adult fitness
Pick purchase boot camp
Click here to purchase boot camp (doesn’t work)
Example
Pick Sports performance training
Pick purchase speed agility quickness
Click here to purchase Saq (doesn’t work)IE6
None of the drop down menus come down and no links work.IE5
All messed up.

Please advise

Hi there Todd,
So IE6 ended up being one of the worst browsers ever shipped: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Internet_Explorer_6
It was terribly buggy, and software patches didn’t help much. Here you can see the percentage of users worldwide who use IE6: http://www.ie6countdown.com/. In North America, it’s less than 1%.
IE7 was better, but it was replaced in 2009 – our recommendation is to use the latest version of all browsers as we don’t actively support degenerated browser versions. Since IE9 is out, we still are supporting IE8.
Our recommended browsers are Chrome and Firefox, but everything should also work well in the lastest versions of IE and other browsers.
