Why is my page jump taking me to another post?

One of my blogs is bilingual, so my posts have page jumps to click and go directly to the english version of the post. I have to bilingual posts now. The thing is, when I click the page jump of the firts post, instead of taking me to the english version on that same post, it takes me to the english version of the latest post. How do i fix this?

The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

  • Hi there. I just checked all your posts and those with page jumps worked fine. The first and last posts didn’t have an English version. If you’re still having trouble with this, please let us know. It would help if you include a link to the specific post with which you’re having problems.

Thank you for replying, but when I check the blog, and not each post individually, the post called Sansa Stark’s lemon cakes takes me to the bread basket english version, rather than it’s own. I don’t know why this happens. And it only happens when I’m in the whole blog, because it works just fine when I open the post by itself.

  • Thanks for the extra information. I think I know what’s going on. On both posts you used the string “unique-identifier” exactly as in the support doc. In single posts that works fine, but on the home page that link now points to two different places in two different posts and if you click it in either post it jumps to the first place that identifier occurs, in other words it’s no longer unique.

To prevent this happening you must make sure the identifier is truly unique for every post. For examply, for the Jul 28 post, substitute “unique-identifier” with “english-breadbasket” in both places it occurs. For the Jul 18 post, replace “unique-identifier” with “english-lemoncakes”. That way, if you’re looking at a feed with more than one post displaying there’s no duplication of the identifiers. Do the same with all future posts – make sure each post’s identifier is completely unique.

  • Just to be clear – you do this in the text editor where you created the page jump according to the instructions here: http://en.support.wordpress.com/splitting-content/page-jumps/

The “unique-identifier” used in the instructions is merely an example and you can use any word you want as the identifier, as long as it’s the same at the top of the page and at the point you want it to jump to.
