Why is my primary domain not working?

  • Unknown's avatar

I registered a custom domain through WordPress.com when I created my newest blog. I set my custom registered domain as the primary domain and allowed it to be available to search engines. However, when I type in the registered/primary domain, it does not connect to my blog, and I cannot search for my blog website. The only web address that seems to work is the example.wordpress.com one.

What settings have I overlooked to have my custom domain working?

The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

    Hi Mollie,

Sometimes it can take up to 48 hours for domain name changes to be properly reflected across the entire internet. I’m guessing this was the cause as it now seems to be working.

Is that correct? Do you need help with anything else?

No, it is still not working. I registered for my domain on 3/22 which was 9 days ago, so I do not believe that is the issue.
When camaraderieblog.com is typed in to the browser it will not bring you to the blog up & also can not be googled.
If I type in my other domain (which is not my primary domain) camaraderieblogdotcom.wordpress.com, you can access the blog and the proper domain name will show up in the browser.
If the website has been cached then it can be revisited with the proper domain, but a new browser that you have new visited the site before will not bring you to the blog.
What settings am I missing to have this work properly?

    Hi Mollie,

I see the problem. You seem to have registered “http://camraderieblog.com/” (missing an “A”). That domain works well.

However “camaraderieblog.com” is not registered at all.

If you’ve made a mistake with this let me know ASAP so I can issue a refund and cancel that domain for you before the time window for that expires. Then you can register the other domain name.

Oh my! I can’t believe I hadn’t noticed that mistake. Thank you so much!
Yes, if you could please issue a refund, for the current one (camraderieblog) I will go register for the correct domain.

Thank you for your attention to detail in helping me solve this issue!

Hi Mollie, it happens to be best of us :-)

I’ve cancelled your domain and issued a refund which may take a few days (sometimes up to seven) to show up in your statement.

Let me know in the meantime if you need help registering your new domain
