why is my private blog showing visit stats?

  I have my blog set to private so why is it showing loads of visitor stats?
  Is it just search engines finding the landing page?

  Could be search engines, could be something else, like if you’ve left comments. I clicked on your name and got the landing page saying the blog was private. That counts as one hit. But I couldn’t read it.

  Your own visits to a private blog are recorded and reflected in stats. Those who click the URl and see the portected blog long-in box and can go no further also create stats.
