Why is my reader loading up posts from blogs I don't follow?
-
My reader is displaying posts from blogs I don’t follow as well as blogs I do follow. This is very annoying as it is clogging up my work flow.
The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

Hi there,
Can you let me know an example (URL) of a post that is currently appearing in your Reader that you aren’t actually following?
-
-
Hi James,
Are you referring to this post shown here?
If so, that is a post from fromlaoswithlove.wordpress.com that was reblogged on a blog you do follow. The blog post on the blog you follow can be found here:
http://thailandphotostravel.wordpress.com/2014/09/22/rethinking-education/
Posts that are reblogged on blogs you follow will appear in your Reader.
Please let me know if you’re referring to a different blog post!

Thanks Jeremy.
Now I know why.
So ‘Blogs I follow’ is not necessarily blogs I follow. It can be other blogs that blogs I follow follow or reblog posts from.
Is there any reason why WP don’t show the reblogged post on the blog I follow as in http://thailandphotostravel.wordpress.com/2014/09/22/rethinking-education/
Then we would all know why it is there and not be confused.
Wouldn’t that be a lot clearer?
James

Hey James,
Correct – the Blogs I Follow in your reader will show any post on a blog you follow including posts that a blog has reblogged from elsewhere. So, if you follow my blog and I reblog a post from ma.tt, you will see it as well.
The fact that the post is a reblog is displayed in two ways:
On the actual site, it will say “Originally posted on…” as shown here:
In the Reader, you will see “username reblogged this on sitename and commented…” as shown in gray here:
Does that make more sense?

Yes Jeremy. I understand. It just clutters things up a bit and I obviously can’t control it which is disappointing. Never mind. James
