why is my rss feed subscribe link not working?

I use the K-2 Lite theme and have the “rss links” widget activated in my sidebar. I just tried adding it to Google Reader and I get the following error: “This XML file does not appear to have any style information associated with it. The document tree is shown below.” followed by a whole bunch of code. In the past, I have been able to successfully add this feed to a feed reader. I’d like visitors to be able to easily add Garlic Pig to their feed readers. Can you help?

  • Hi there – your feed is working fine for me in Firefox, I’m prompted to add it to one of my two default feed readers, iGoogle or Google Reader, as you can see in this screenshot:

Are you adding the feed directly within Google Reader, or through Chrome?

I tried adding it the feed directly within Google Reader. And it works, if I physically type in garlicpicg.com in the subscribe field. But the way I normally add feeds in Google Reader is to just drag the rss icon from the feed I want into the subscribe window – no typing involved. When I try that with the feed for this topic, for instance, it works fine and I am subscribed. But when I try the same thing from Garlic Pig I get a big page of code with the message: This XML file does not appear to have any style information associated with it. The document tree is shown below. Is there a way that people can just drop and drag the rss icon to whatever reader they are using to subscribe?

I tested it just now using the Chrome browser and I created a screencast showing that I can subscribe by dragging and dropping the RSS link: http://f.cl.ly/items/0p1f1I3X3q1x3s132L1r/garlicpig_subcribe.m4v

So I’m afraid that I cannot reproduce what you are describing. Is this how you subscribe to feeds in Google Reader? Please rest assured that your RSS subscription feed is correct and is working as expected.

Thank you for the screencast – and yes, that is exactly what I would expect to happen, but for whatever reason, it doesn’t on my end! But thanks for the reassurance that is is working!
