Why is my site not being indexed properly in Google?

  A Google search for my site results in this message: A description for this result is not available because of this site’s robots.txt.

  How can I address this? I don’t know what is affecting this. Thank you.

  WordPress.com automatically sends notifications to Google with every post and page update. The search engines can take 4-6 weeks or more to add any new sites. Read this page for more information about WordPress.com and Search Engines.

  It will take a couple of days from the time you created your blog for to show up in WordPress.com search results.

  You can control whether or not search engines index your site in your Privacy Settings in your dashboard at Settings > Privacy Settings.

  This site has been live for a year. I’ve just noticed in the control panel that the site was set to discourage search engines from indexing the site; will this be the problem?

  Yes, you’ll need to change this to ‘Allow search engines to index this site’.
