Why is my site not showing up on a Google search?

A Google search for my blog page (gotledblog.wordpress.com) yields no results. It’s set up as Public, so why is it not found?

Yes, that can be frustrating @gotled.
Have you tried going through the steps to verify your site and submit a sitemap to Google Search Console?
https://en.support.wordpress.com/webmaster-tools/That might help speed things up a little. In reality, Google essentially crawls just about every site automatically. This is why you would need to explicitly state for bots not to crawl or index your site in the Privacy Settings.
But again, what shows up in the search results is entirely up to Google. According to this simple illustration, there are over 200 factors that Google considers when ranking a page:
