Why is my sub-menu not working on Android devices?

  • Unknown's avatar

On my NVIDIA Shield tablet, the sub-menu appears as a vertical list of parent items only. When I click on a parent item, the site takes me to “Page Not Found.” On my Android smartphone, when using mobile viewing, the sub-menu parents and children are all listed under the Top Menu, while my normal top menu items are nowhere to be found. When viewed on this phone in full site version, the same thing happens as with the tablet.

I am using the Yoko Theme and my blog is http://www.squirrelpicnic.com. Thank you!

    Hi there,

It looks like those parent pages are all set to Private, which is why you are seeing a page not found error when you are on your mobile device (you are not logged in – this would be the same on a desktop if you log out of your account). If you are logged into your WordPress.com account you will see that it says Private: PAGE TITLE when you go to those parent pages.

Let me know if you have any questions with this!

Thank you, Gracejiyoung, for your quick response!

That does help. I was rather hoping that there might be a way for me to hide those pages and just use the page titles as headings for the children under them, which are links instead of pages. But since it looks like the hover function doesn’t work on all tablets, I guess it makes sense to have pages for these users to navigate to as well. I was frustrated by this at first, but now I see how useful it is.

    Thanks again for your assistance!

You’re very welcome! What you can do is change those pages to empty parent pages (so you’d have to create a new set of public parent pages and switch them out in the Menu), so that at least readers will not see a page not found error.

    Cheers!
