Why is reserved … site?

  • Unknown's avatar

I want to try wordpress and i would like to use my common used nick (astromedia) but site astromedia.wordpress.com is allegedly reserved but there is no option to figure out why or by who.

Sorry for my english, its not my primary language.

Usernames are never “reserved” only the blogs matching usernames are reserved. When we register a username account the matching blog is reserved for our future use. It cannot be obtained by anyone other than the person who has registered the matching username account.

Blog names are the same as usernames for the most part. Usernames can be turned into blog names, but blog names cannot be turned into usernames.

astromedia.wordpress.com doesn’t exist and as you have the matching username have your tried to register that blog URL?

I see, is there option to find out what email is binded with this nickname? – to exclude possibility that is my older email when i (maybe) tryed wordpress about 10 years ago?

Im not sure if i registered many years ago this nickname or not now.

If you cannot locate your log-in information you can visit https://en.wordpress.com/wp-login.php?action=lostpassword

If required click the “Need More Help” link there and complete the required information for account recovery.

I tryed first password recovery for this nickname but i have many emails (for every different purposes). After this i checked every email im using but i not recived any email so there are two options – i forgot years ago some of my emails or somebody else was firts.

“Need More Help” link seems to be helpfull, i will try it, many thanx.

ps: im realy sorry for my english again, i know is terrible now – i realize my vocabulary is not sufficient today

Your English is very good and we understand each other so not to worry. Let us know how you make out.

Thx, i have described my problem and clicked “Recover my accont button” but i realized now it need my web adress and i havent any – im trying to recover this username (if its realy mine) becose i want to create one.

The user “astromedia” registered an account on WordPress.com in December 2008. At that time, the site name “astromedia.wordpress.com” was reserved for the use of that username. As timethief mentioned, site names are reserved for the matching username and cannot be used by anyone else.

If you did register for this account and you still have access to the email address on file, you can request a password reset.

Please make sure you have tried testing different passwords using the reset password form. Often people can remember the password after a few tries.
    https://en.wordpress.com/wp-login.php?action=lostpassword

If that won’t work, and do not have access to your account email address, we will only accept one of the following alternative account verification options:

    * The API key associated with the account. Please see this link for more information on API keys:
    http://en.support.wordpress.com/api-keys/

    * A Paypal Transaction ID for any upgrades purchased for the account. Keep in mind that since PayPal is our sole payment processor behind-the-scenes, this transaction ID was generated even if you paid via credit card or another method:
    http://en.support.wordpress.com/paypal-transaction-id/

If none of this information is available, I’m afraid there’s nothing else we can do to assist you in recovering this account.

Please let me know if you have any other questions.

Thx for so comprehensive (i hope i used this word right) response but my main problem here is I dont know what emai address is binded to this account so if U could tell me this im sure if its mine i have acces to it.
Im using different emails for different purposses – some for registration suspected from advertising emails, some for official purposes, some for school atc so i dont remember what (if) i used in 2008, im realy sorry about that.

I can’t provide you the email address. We request that information to verify ownership of the account and without it – or any of the other account recovery information I outlined above – there is nothing else I can do.

If you are unable to provide Staff with the required account recovery information, you will need to use another account and site name for your new site on WordPress.com.

    I hope that clarifies things.

Oh i see, i was afraid thats private information … so i will provide list of my most commonly used emails … if it isnt any of them i will give up :)

    [email addresses removed by Staff]
    these are most possible.

I’m afraid it was none of these. Please let me know if you want me to edit out the posted addresses.

One last question – is there some expiration day for unused accounts?

There is no expiration date on usernames or blog names on WordPress.com.
