Why is stat sites counting my visits and why is WP logging me out?

Two days ago, I noticed that the WordPress Site Stats started counting my visits to the blog. I can tell because new views precisely match the pages I click onto on my blog.
I’ve also noticed that WordPress seems to log me out when I view my blog. It used to be the case that I could click on the “Edit” function at the bottom of each post, but that “Edit” link has now disappeared, even when I’m sure to log back into WordPress.
Any ideas on why these things are happening suddenly and whether they’re related?

Yes, I have been doing that.
In fact, when I open the Site Stats page through a direct bookmark on my browser, it takes me directly into my account, even though when I view the blog main page or posts directly before or after, I can’t see the “Edit” feature on posts nor can I view the “My Account” menu bar on the top right.

That sounds like you might have a corrupt cookie or cache element.

Okay, I tried that. I followed the instructions–clearing out the cookies and cache. After closing Firefox and restarting it, I logged back into WordPress, asked my browswer and WP to “remember me” but unfortunately I’m still having the same problem. When I go back into the blog main page, I don’t see My Account or the Edit function. I can also tell Site Stats is still counting my visits in the views it displays for me. Any other ideas? Thanks for your help.

Okay, that did the trick. Thanks–didn’t realize I needed that the third-party cookie box checked for WP. It’s working now.

It’s kind of a bug in Firefox 3.6 when using mapped domains. For some reason, it doesn’t associate the mapped domain with the WordPress.com cookie.
