Why is the drop-down log-in window appearing when I comment

  today I noticed that a Log-in drop down menu appears on “blog I follow” posts when I try to make a comment even though I am already logged in to WP… what gives? Is this a new change?

  The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

  Hi there,

  I’d be more than happy to look in to that! Could you give me a bit more information though? When you are browsing blogs, how are you doing so? Are you using the Reader to review the blogs which you are subscribed to? Or are you navigating directly to blogs via your browser?

  Also, where does the log-in drop down menu appear on your screen?

  Thanks in advance for any additional information you can provide!

  When in the reader, I would click on the title to take me directly to the post on its native blog, when I would write a comment in the prescribed area the new log-in window would drop down under the comment box that I was writing in. This would also happen when I had a second window open and was multitasking between WP and other blogs. Like most things, it’s probably gone by now … no problem. While I’m here, I can’t say I’m too thrilled with the triple clicking necessary to navigate the reader in the upgraded ipad app…

  Just to be sure, is it a WordPress.com login option? Our commenting form also has Facebook and Twitter login options, as well as a form to just fill in details to comment as a “guest”.

  If you see the login option, select the “Change” link and lick the WordPress.com logo to the right.

  If you are logged in to WordPress.com (you see the admin bar at the top), and it still wants you to log in to WordPress.com to comment, first please make sure that your browser is up to date by visiting http://whatbrowser.org/

  If it is not, please try updating your browser or switching to a different browser.

  If it is, please do these four things:

  1. Try clearing your browser’s cache and cookies: http://en.support.wordpress.com/browser-issues/

  2. Make sure that you have third-party cookies enabled: http://en.support.wordpress.com/third-party-cookies/

  3. Try with all browser extensions or add-ons temporarily disabled.

  4. Try enabling HTTPS: http://en.support.wordpress.com/https/

  Please let us know how each step goes for you, and which browser (and version of) you’re using if you’re still having trouble.
