Why is the "featured image" for my most recent post not showing
-
I loaded an image and selected “use as featured image” — just like I’ve done for every other post I’ve written — but it didn’t work. The regular, default image shows up. I did it the same way as for every other post, but for some reason this post alone isn’t working right. Help!?

Are you referring to http://quailspit.wordpress.com/2011/09/26/sledgehammer/ ?
If so, the image is not actually wide enough. It needs to at least match the width of the header image. This width is listed at Appearance -> Header in your blog’s Dashboard.

I’m sorry, would you mind letting me know which specific image you’re referring to? From what I can see on your most recent post, the “Featured Image” module on your Edit Post page is empty.
Additionally, where are you trying to view the featured image? In your header or elsewhere?
Thanks so much for your help and patience :)

The featured image should be in the header of this page (only): http://quailspit.wordpress.com/2011/09/26/sledgehammer/
It’s probably blank now (in the edit post page) because I’ve tried (and gave up) selecting it and having it appear. When I would load it, it would appear on the edit post page in the featured image block at the bottom right, but then when I published the post and went to that page (not as an item on the home page), I expected — like every other post — to see the featured image as the header… not the one that the home page uses. Didn’t work.
I’ll try again now.

Ok, just tried it again, and now it should show up in the featured header box on the edit post page… but it’s not showing up as the header for that post even though I hit “update” on the post itself.

Thanks for clarifying! Can you try modifying the image so that it fits the header size?
For Twenty Eleven, header images are 1000 x 288 pixels.
