Why is the New Editor still unusable?

I don’t get it. If WordPress is going to all but force users into the new editor, why not fix it? The “category” bug was pointed out months ago but is still unusable on a site like mine.

And it’s still a PITA to kick up the classic editor. I notice that WordPress has no problem nagging me with a link to the new editor (which I permanently removed with “Remove it Permanently” add-on) but as we all know, WordPress has decided to stubbornly remove a link to the classic editor. It wouldn’t be so galling if the new editor in any way worked as well as the functional/classic editor.

The last time I was asked/polled if I would recommend WordPress, I chose 3, and I meant it.

    Hi,

It’s easy to permanently set posts to open to the classic editor. This is accomplished via an automatic redirect forced by a user script inserted in a browser add-on. It’s been working splendidly on my site for about eight months. See the following pages:

With the browser script redirect in a Greasemonkey add-on, you can disable and re-enable the redirect in seconds if you wish to use the new editor temporarily.

@upinvermont, updates to the editor, including categories, will be online soon. Apologies for the trouble with that!

Just tried the new editor. Beautiful.

Now why couldn’t WordPress wait and do this right? Why try to shove a broken editor down everybody’s throat? I mean, really, it gave all of us to whom it mattered a middle finger. Honest to God. I think I know who was responsible for the decision but won’t name names.

Please don’t do it again. It’s a jerky way for a business to treat its customers.

All that said, the new editor is pleasure to use and appears to be what it needs to be. Thank you.
