why is the video in my post not playing?

i inserted a youtube video in my blog post. i copied and pasted the youtube link (while the youtube video was playing) into my blog post. the video worked when i first published my post but now (a week later) it doesn’t seem to play. i have tried to edit my post and re-do it but can’t get it to work. please help!

Can you send me a link to the page with the video that isn’t working quite right?
One thing to be sure of is that the address is not linked to the YouTube site. If the link in the post editor appears blue, click on it, then click the “unlink” icon (the broken chain icon), then save it. Also, the URL must be on a line by itself.
If neither of those things are it, please do send me a link to the page and we’ll get it figured out. Thanks!

the URL is on its own separate line in the post (no empty spaces before it either). it is also not blue. here is the page:

Ah yes, I see that. There are two issues apparently:
- The YouTube video is loading too wide—it was loading half in view, half outside of view.
- The play controls weren’t displayed, so clicking on the video would play it, but there is no visual indication to do so.
I believe both these issues are a result of the theme you’re using and the way it creates the two-column view. I disabled the two-column view in that post (using the option at the very bottom-right of the post’s edit page) and the video displayed normally.
I’ll write up this up in a bug report for the theme’s developer to consider. In the mean time, would using the one-column view be an option for that particular post?

i will disable the 2 column view for any future posts with video. though i do like this theme exactly because of the 2 column option- if the developers could fix this problem someday that would be wonderful!

Glad to hear the workaround works. I’ve reported it to the theme’s developer. For future reference, since you purchased a premium theme, you have direct access to the developer as well via this theme’s forum.

Hi,
With this particular theme, video content should be included on a video post formatted post (more about Post Formats), which does force the single column view.
With the video control issues, it appears limited to Chrome and older versions (pre-Mavericks) of Safari.
