Why is this happening

I add one sentance, hit save, and then find that sentance 10 inches down the page. I look at the code and find this entire block …

Typing directly. It’s been happening all day. And now nearly half the page is gone. Vanished. Any way to get it back?
There was a ton of work into that. It just vanished for zero reason.
Only part of the work I struggled with today survived, and all the the past work simply went away.
This is so not good.

Typing directly
Typing directly into???
because if you used word pad it will put funky tags in your
post… -
Directly into, yes. Everytine I hit save, a chunk of this cod shows up willy-nilly somewhere on the page.

do you have the Xhtml nesting/ correcting feature turned on?
Goto to your dashboard:
settings–> writingyou should see a box that says Formatting
on the box that says: ” wordpress should correct….”
if that is checked : then uncheck it and savesee if that stops these mark ups
-
Thanks, I’ll try that.
I gt this two minutes ago when adding a few words, and it kicked the tect down a few inches …

It’s not checked.
It adds this block of code where I am working, and automatically at the bottom of the page as well.
This from today …

This is rediculous …
I spend 90% of my blogging time trouble shooting.
Here’s the scenario …
I click media. Most of the time I only get the bottom half of the media wind, and need to exit out and click it again.
Once I have the whole window I add a photo, which still always goes to the top of the page where I need to cut and paste it where I want it. This always leaves behind a code that needs to be erased.
So, when I hit paste, the whole window shifts down, and then fills the screen left to write. At the bottom of that windo where it says path, a line of SPAN suddenly appears. Sure enough when I hit save so I can see what happened, it has been posted several inches down from where I wanted it.
I then need to open the window again and look for the code to delete it, usually several lines, as you can see by my posts. It takes a few minutes to figure out where it starts and stops.
Once that is done I hit save again and go back to see if everything is where it is supposed to be.
And there goes all my blogging time.
Please don’t say it’s my computer. This was not a problem before, and I am a poor guy from a poor country, and there is zero economic option to upgrade to all the bells and whistles. This is all I got.
So, now what? This was not happening when you first made the change. It’s a new problem.

My blogging time is up for the day …
http://alexwhitmer.wordpress.com/my-soap-box/
You can see big chunks of space mid-way, and at the bottom. Happens everytime I hit save. Every time!!
Photos jammed together, chunks of code for no apparent reason …
It will have to stay like it is until I can deal with it, and once again spend the whole alotted time trying to fix it instead af actually adding new material.
Arg.

all i can say is goto your soap box post and open it up the editor.
click on the HTML buttonand go down you see:
[p align=”center”] [a title=”remb” href=”http://alexwhitmer.files.wordpress.com/2008/03/rembrandt4.jpg”] [img src=”http://alexwhitmer.files.wordpress.com/2008/03/rembrandt4.thumbnail.jpg” alt=”remb” /] [/a] [/p](note i changed < > to [ ] for this forum entry)
delete everything below it and save.
That is right below the Rembrant thumbnail on your post. If still writes more crazy code try deleting the rembrant picture. and see what happens.
Everything below that picture is bad code, I do not catch any bad mark ups before that thumbnail.
hope that helps.

ok there is a mistake
the code in front of the line Like the ephemeral buterfly….
Like the ephemeral butterfly, you quickly passed
your gonna have to remove the: first <p> to </p>
thats no good.
Sometimes the editor will try to solve a mark up problem, when it cannot it will continuously
and you want to use <font size= 1> instead of “small at wordpress”
-
-
That code under the Rembrandt keeps coming back. I have deleted it at the same point you mentioned several times, and it comes back no matter where I am working on the page. Weird.
I’ve gone through and found what I could to delete, but there’s no garauntee it won’t keep coming back.
Sorry, but what is a markup?

all those HTMl codes in angle brackets <> have a certain logic. I will use these brackets [] for the forum post:
They must follow in a inside out matter.
[p][bold][i] the text content [/i] [/bold][/p]
the first one is called an open markup
[p] starts a paragraph
[bold] starts the text in bold
the “mark up” with the backtick closes the command. so
[/p] closes a paragraph, [/bold] stops the rest of the following texting in boldthe problem with your post is that HTML is not in the correct order in certain places
in the example above you must close inside[p][bold][i] the text content [/i] [/bold][/p]
3 2 1 1 2 3The line before “Emerald butterfly” is not following this logic, and is no good.
