Why is Twitter telling me the request token has expired and how can I fix this?

Hello,Earlier today I set up the publicize tool on my edit screen and everything worked fine…or so I thought. The Twitter permission request did not go through. When I tried to request permission again it went to Twitter which gave me a pink bar containing the following:
Whoa there!
The request token for this page is invalid. It may have already been used, or expired because it is too old. Please go back to the site or application that sent you here and try again; it was probably just a mistake.I tried refreshing and I went to the apps section of my twitter account and neither wordpress or publicize was on there. I’m not sure that I’m doing anything wrong, but if there is some way you could help me figure this out, all your help will be much appreciated.
