Why is vertical scrolling sometimes impossible when looking at pictures of a gal
-
When displaying pictures of a gallery there is a kind of partial preview to the left and to the right of the displayed picture. The partial display to the right extends to the very right border of the window and therefore overlaps the area of the vertical scrollbar which hence cannot be used for scrolling.

The browsers and versions of so them that WordPress.COM supports are found here http://browsehappy.com
1. If you are not running one of the browsers and versions listed at http://browsehappy.com/ please try upgrading or switching first.
2. If you are using an IE browser in compatibility mode please disable that mode. http://www.sevenforums.com/tutorials/1196-internet-explorer-compatibility-view-turn-off.html
3. If you are running one of the browsers and versions listed at http://browsehappy.com/

5. Try using another browser.
6. If you are not successful let us know:
(a) Exactly what kind of device you are using to connect to the internet and to WordPress.com.
(b) Exactly which browser (and version of it) you’re using by checking here if necessary http://www.whatbrowser.org/
(c) Exactly what you experience including what any error reports you receive state. -
1. Thank you for your answer.
2. In my opinion the problem lies in the page which is produced by WordPress. I have tried different browsers in different systems (Firefox, Chrome, Internet Explorer 9 and 11; Windows 7 and Linux) and all behave quite different at the right margin of the window. I think you could easily try yourself Firefox, Chrome, and Internet Explorer 11 in a Windows 7 system: Go to my blog, click on a picture of the preview, and then look at the scrollbar on the right and try to scroll and/or click.
3. Firefox (as I have described in my first post): The partial display to the right extends to the very right border of the window and therefore overlaps the area of the vertical scrollbar which hence (?) cannot be used for scrolling.
4. Chrome: The partial preview of the next picture of the gallery does not overlap the area of the scrollbar but nevertheless the latter cannot be used for scrolling nor clicking.
5. Internet Explorer 11: The only browser I found which can handle the situation. The partial preview of the next picture does overlap the scrollbar but the scrollbar is nevertheless usable, even clicks into the bar are treated as expected.
6. Internet Explorer 9: Completely unusable for displaying the gallery because two pictures are overlapping (I didn’t try the scrollbar).
7. As a last point let me remind you that I write blogs for other people (not only for me). Therefore I have no control over the browsers they are using but still would like that everybody could see my posts without any trouble.

Hi Peter,
It’s a design issue that’s been discussed a while back and it was agreed that an immediate solution is to use the mouse’s scroll wheel or the arrow keys on the keyboard to allow vertical scrolling.
I’ll have this taken up again and will let you know what comes up. Thanks for your patience!
Andrew D.
