Why is website url displaying as https rather than http

  I just set-up the website http://www.skidiamond.com – it is now live but everytime I visit the site on Firefox or Edge I get website not secure warnings.
  It referes to the SSL certificate BUT I do not have a certificate installed for this domain/site.
  Any ideas what could be causing this?

  I checked your site. It is not hosted on WordPress.com, your domain points to ns.ukc07.uk. Based on this info, I assume you are WordPress.org user.

  This forum is dedicated to WordPress.com.

  To know more about the difference between WordPress.com and WordPress.org, check this link : https://en.support.wordpress.com/com-vs-org/

  With that being said, you are getting that message becasue you do not have an SSL certificate. You would need to contact your hosting provider to obtain this. Your site will then be https and you will no longer see those warning.

  Thanks for the input.

  I don’t have a ssl certificate, nor do I want one, but the site is displaying a url of https://www.skidiamond.com irrespective of an ssl being installed.

  How do I stop it opening the site with this https url?

  Actually I presume I don’t need to forward all these? I.e. You’re getting them anyway Matt? JSent from my iPhone
