    why is wordpress asking me to upgrade my plan when woo commerce is free…..see Storefront is a free WordPress theme available to any WooCommerce store. Along with deep WooCommerce integration, Storefront prioritizes speed and uptime while eliminating theme and plugin conflicts during major updates.

    Hey wildjamm,

    You can use WooCommerce only on the Business Plan of WordPress.com.

    Please check the pricing. https://wordpress.com/pricing/

    There are four different plans and except Business Plan, no other plan allows you to use WooCommerce.

    WooCommerce is a plugin and you can’t install plugins or any third party theme on a free WordPress.com plan.

    So if you want to create an e-commerce website, you have to upgrade.

    I just wanted to clarify here: The WooCommerce software is free to use, as is the WordPress software. But you still need a server on which to install the software and bandwidth for other people to connect to that server to access the site. This is also referred to as hosting.

    Now on WordPress.com we provide hosting for free, and instead we charge you for specific advanced features and services. The feature to use custom plugins, like WooCommerce, is only available in the Business Plan as it makes your site quite a bit more complex, both in terms of how we need to set it up on our servers and for providing support. But you get access to 24/7 live chat support, and can also book a one on one session with a Happiness Engineer to help you set it up and ask any questions you might have.
