Why is wordpress editor not WYSIWYG?
-
As can be seen from any experience using the editor, it’s EXTREMELY FRUSTRATING that it’s not What You See Is What You Get (WYSIWYG). Most of the blocks of the editor only take up about 50% of the available width, and the way it looks when you are editing is different from how it looks in the preview. This is frustrating especially when images are involved and you have to switch repeatedly back and forth to the preview to get the sizes right. Why don’t the editor blocks use the full width of the editing page? [for posts and for pages]

Hi there!
There seems to be an open issue and an active discussion about this. You can check it and comment here.
In general, if you have doubts about sites not hosted on WordPress.com, I recommend posting to the community forums: https://wordpress.org/support/forums/. Here, we can only help with sites hosted on our servers, as we do not have access to data on sites using the free WordPress software but hosted elsewhere.
http://wordpress.org/support/ is also a great resource for sites using the open-source WordPress.org software.

Thanks for the reply! I looked at the open issue you referenced, and I don’t think it’s the same problem but I see the similarity.

You can also add a comment to that issue, describing what you see on your end or open a new issue so the developers can have a look :)
