why is wordpress in my domain name?

  I bought a .com domain name but now I’m seeing my domain name plus wordpress in the URL. Why is ‘wordpress’ part of my domain name?

  The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

  I am seeing your site’s URL as http://denelecampbell.com/. Were you able to get this sorted out?

  Yes, I think so. Thanks. I think when I’m working on the site it’s thru wordpress, but otherwise it’s just my name.

  However, I just went to my ‘account’ page and it says my web address is with ‘wordpress’ in it. !

  Yes, all the dashboard and other “backend” stuff will use your ________.wordpress.com URL. This is because that is your permanent URL on WordPress.com. This way, your content will always be available even if something happens to your custom domain.
