Why is WordPress looking to charge m for a renewal of a free year of blogging?

    Hello-
Thank you for taking a minute to help me. Last year I tried out the free word press premium package starting on January 29, 2014. On March 1, 2014 I bought a years subscription of blogging. Question: is the upcoming charge ( scheduled for January 29, 2015) renewing my “free year at word-press account”? I do not want to renew that account- since I started it under a domain name that a month later I did not want to continue using (www.annabeth.com). I will renew the subscription I bought last year (March 2014 – http://www.boastinginweakness.com)- at the end of April if I have the money.

    Hello there!

WordPress.com hosting is always free. You are more than welcome to revert to the free version of your site at any time!

What is set to renew is your Premium upgrade (with the domain registration for boastinginweakness.com included).

If you would prefer this NOT autorenew, you can turn off that feature here:
    https://annabethhogan.wordpress.com/wp-admin/paid-upgrades.php?page=my-upgrades

If you would like to separate your domain registration from your Premium upgrade, that’s no problem. You can allow the rest of the Premium features to expire, but renew the domain name only.

To do this, in the same link I gave you above, click Cancel This Upgrade underneath your Premium upgrade. This will separate out all the features of the upgrade, allowing you to let some lapse, while you still can renew and pay for your domain separately.

I hope this helps! If you have any other concerns, drop me a note. Thanks much!
