Why is Zemanta no longer available on WordPress.com?

I haven’t blogged in a month, but found Zemanta no longer to be found on a draft post. I have used it for pictures, suggesting tags, links, etc. I had been in the process of upgrading my computer and thought that was why I did not see it. I tried to download but I found information that seems to say Zemanta is not available on WordPress.com, only on WordPress.org I have bought my domain name but it a .com extension so I assume it is not available to me. I also tried to download through Safari – will that give me Zemanta again?

We have removed our integration with Zemanta from WordPress.com. We’re working on improving our editor to incorporate some functionality previously provided by Zemanta. Some features, like related posts, are already there. We encourage you to use our Related Posts feature on WordPress.com, and for images, check out our list of websites that provide free images, videos, books, and other content for your blogs.

WordPress.com and WordPress.org are similar versions of the WordPRess software, but with some significant differences. This may be a good primer:

Please pass on my profound disappointment. I found the Zemanta feature being present as I constructed my blog posts to easy, user-friendly, and extremely helpful. Though there may be websites where I can find images I will have to find them, search an image, download it and then add it….with Zemanta suggested images were a click away, suggested tags and links right there. This decision by WordPress did not take the user into account obviously and I am sure will impact the number of people who choose WordPress in the future or other users like myself, with years worth of connection to this platform. I used to recommend it to others, and will now have to think about if I will continue to do that.

Zemanta hasn’t been available for over a year on WordPress.com sites. However, there is a solution, if you’d like to add a Zemanta extension to your browser, you might gain a bit of the functionality you had before.
