why isn't my blog working with Jaws?
-
I use Jaws (version 11) which converts text into speech and braille enabling me to read my computer’s screen. Until a few days ago I was able to creat posts without difficulty, however I am now experiencing the following issue. On going to create new post I get stuck in the area in which the text of a post is entered. Cursoring or tabbing fail to move me to the title field or the tags/categories field. I am using a Windows 7 Home Premium laptop with Firefox although I have also tried using Internet Explorer. I have tried clearing my internet history but this has no effect. I have also tried a later version of Jaws (version 14) but the same problem arises. I can now only blog with the help of sighted friends. I have lost my independence and wish to return to the time (very recently) when I could create posts unaided. Please help. Jaws is manufactured by Freedom Scientific who offer free demo versions. Perhaps you could try using Jaws to replicate the problems I am experiencing. Thank you for your help, Kevin Morris

Hi there,
I’m so sorry to hear that the Jaws application is not being able to read the compose screen! Let me ask you a quick question: We have a couple of different screens in which you can compose a blog post.
The first one is by going in your dashboard to Posts >> Add New, and results in a URL which looks like this:
https://newauthoronline.wordpress.com/wp-admin/post-new.php
The other is reached a number of ways, but usually when you’re in the Reader and you click on New Post, and the URL looks like this:
Which one of these are you having problems with? Or do neither of them work?
If you could let me know, I’d really appreciate it!

I have been able to enter text in the compose post field but it is impossible to tab to the publish/save draft field. Cursoring fails to work either. Thanks, Kevin

I have been able to post independently by activating the PC cursor. The Jaws cursor activates regularly and, on activating the Jaws cursor I am, once more able to post. The process is quite slow but is does, now appear to be working. Thanks, Kevin
