Why isn't my copyright badge showing up on my blog?
-
I am trying to insert MyFreeCopyright badge onto my blog but I get a garbled code to show instead. I placed the script into a text widget. I’m wondering if the script is bad? Here is what shows up on my page:
(function () { document.write(“”);} () );

I haven’t used myfreecopright for years. Will you please provide the code betweent backticks so we can examine it? The backtick ` not to be confused with the single quote mark ‘ is located to the left of the number 1 key in lower case under the tilde ~.

OK, I’m looking. My anti-virus software just started so it’s going to slow down my machine. I hope this won’t take too long. Just letting you know.

I used the following for my site RSS URL and I want to be sure I used the correct one:
http://marcellarousseau.wordpress.com/feed
Is that correct?

Where do I find the button? They didn’t offer any button. The choice was badge of not show anything. Those were the 2 choices and they recommended the badge.

Look at the editor box here in the forum and you will see button above it. Click
and enter the code you have then click
again to close.

oh brother : – ( Now I have the gobbled code AND the badge. I had 2 of their webpages open. I closed down the one with the code and re-logged into their website. they had a new page with different instructions and I ended up getting new code which I placed into my text box. I guess now I have to figure out which coding to remove.
There still were no backticks in their new code. I noticed that with both code issues, when I click the Save button of my text widget, part of the code gets removed.

I’m not talking about backticks in their code. I’m sorry. I was trying to explain that when you post code into threads on this forum, you have to place it either between backticks or use the code buttons provided. If you don’t then the forum software will not display the full code.

OK, I found the piece of code that was garbled and now I just have the badge. I think if you click the badge it’s supposed to take the clicker to where my stuff is copyrighted or something official like that. But since I removed the garbled code, it doesn’t do that. However, when you mouse over the badge it says that it’s protected and copyrighted.
I’m receiving their emails showing my stuff is copyrighted so, that’s good enough for me. I tried to contact them but they have some weird system where you have to set up an account to contact them….long story short, it didn’t seem to work, so whatever. This is good enough for me.
You don’t use their product anymore? What do you use instead? And, did you find the info on Helium helpful? I find info from the UK to be very helpful. (The author is from the UK.) Sometimes more helpful than articles from the US. In fact, sometimes when I’m researching, I can’t find what I’m looking for in the US and I find the info in the UK. So, I am taken with them which is why I recommended you read his articles.

You don’t use their product anymore?
Using it wasn’t worth my time or energy.
What do you use instead?

See my sidebar too at the bottom. And, did you find the info on Helium helpful?
I don’t use Helium. I’m a former librarian and paralegal researcher who does contracted work and I know how to locate information online or off-line.

I just noticed another problem. My archives disappeared on my blog. It was only for June but the date is now missing.
When you talk about “editor box” are you talking about this box that I’m typing in now or is it some other box?

When we first use any theme or when we chnage a theme there is a deafult display of what looks like sidare widgets but the aren’t really widgets. Go here > Appearance > Widgets and choose the widgets you want to use. Install them in the sidebar click each one to open it, configure it, thenclick “save” and “close”.
Yes, the eidtor box I was referring to is the box you are typing into in the forum thread. :)

P.S. Please excuse the typos above. I forgot to use my app to clean them up before clicking submit.
