why isn't my domain mapping working?

    We have mapped a domain we already owned to our wordpress page and we have changed the nameservers but we are receiving a message saying “database error” when we try and enter our website through the new domain. (the-barn.ca).

    We have reviewed the support documents on your website and we cannot find how to do the third step on our end: Step 3: After the purchase is complete, go to the Store → Domains page, select the radio button next to the domain you just mapped to your blog, and click the Update Primary Domain button. This will make your example.wordpress.com domain automatically redirect to your new domain.

    We are registered with domains at cost – do you know of anything else we need to do to make sure the domain maps properly?

    Hi there,

    It looks like your domain is not pointing to WordPress.com name servers yet:

    Please go to your domain registrar’s site and log into the control panel. You will need to update the name servers as below:

    NS1.WORDPRESS.COM
    NS2.WORDPRESS.COM
    NS3.WORDPRESS.COM

    Thank you,

    I have updated the nameservers two days ago and the mapping is not working. I have also visited the the support page and have followed the instructions there.

    Specifically, I am not sure how to complete step three on the support page (mentioned in my first comment) as i cannot see these options when on the dashboard.

    Hi there,

    I looked up you WHOIS info for the-barn.ca, and it appears that the name server settings have not taken effect.

    http://who.is/whois/THE-BARN.CA

    Can you contact your domain registrar for assistance in changing those? I have checked all the settings on our end, and they appear to be correct and ready.

    Once you have your domain name servers set to the following, your site should begin working as expected.

    • NS1.WORDPRESS.COM
    • NS2.WORDPRESS.COM
    • NS3.WORDPRESS.COM
