Why Isn't My 'Following' tab on WordPress.com Homepage working?

  My ‘Following’ tab on the WordPress Homepage doesn’t list any of my subscribed recently posted blog updates. Only Says :-
  ‘Nothing to read! Why not find your friends, subscribe to some blogs, or have a look at Freshly Pressed?’ ….
  which was a bit of a shock, I almost feel as if I’m searching ‘blind’ now.. why, after all this time of being able to keep up to date so easily, has this happened?
