Why isn't the 'sticky' feature working on my posts?

  • Unknown's avatar

I scheduled several posts, as usual, and I always mark them ‘sticky’ so that they are visible on the front page. Today, all that was undone and posts from 2008 were on the front page!

I spent an hour remarking all future scheduled posts as ‘sticky’, but nothing stuck.
    What’s going on?

Marking ALL your posts as Sticky? Yes, that will result in a fail, no matter what theme you use.

Mark all your posts un-sticky. They will then appear in the order in which you made them.

Thank you for your time, but the reason I’d made all posts sticky is because they’d stack under the former ones. And that is why I’d just auto do it that way.

I would try it your way, however, they seem now to be all un’sticky’ and the problem is the same as what caused me to stick them in the first place.

To be clear, they are already unsticky, won’t become sticky, and appear in chronological order opposite to what we need (oldest first).

If you need reverse chronological order, the only way to do that is to edit the timestamp of each post so newest appears to be oldest, etc.

    I don’t get it.
Are you saying that the newest posts appear below the oldest (typically) and that if I want the newest to appear on the front page (above the older posts), that I would need to date them backwards? What would I use as the oldest date on a new post in order to then keep it on the front page?

Isn’t that what ‘sticky’ is all about?

Great! Some of the older posts were still marked sticky – I unstuck them and ll seems to be fine, now. Thanks a lot!

You’re welcome. I’m glad you didn’t have to change everything.

If you want the newest to appear at the top, just blog regularly. No stickies, nothing. If you want the oldest to appear at the top, you need to edit all those posts so they go “backwards” in time. I get confused by what is meant by “first.”
