Why isn't the system recognizing my upgrade to a .com website?

  I just paid to upgrade margaretjeanadam.wordpress.com to margaretjeanadam.com. Now that I have done that, the system tells me the name margaretjeanadam is already owned on the wordpress.com system. Yes it is! By me! I want to dump the wordpress.com name and go with the one I paid for. Can you tell me how to do that without being charged again?

  Hi there,

  Could you please set your custom domain (margaretjeanadam.com) as the primary domain at Settings → Domains in your blog’s dashboard?

  Once you make the change, it may take a couple hours for the change to take full effect.
