Why isn't WP converting Google calendar into shortcode?

    I’m trying to embed a Google calendar in my WordPress.com site, but it’s not working properly. I looked on the forums for how to embed a Google calendar into my site, and I figured out how to get the code for embedding. Step 5 says that the code will automatically convert from the <iframe… > code I got from the Google calendar into working shortcode for WordPress.com. It’s not converting. How can I embed the calendar now?
