Why my site can’t be found
-
Hello, everytime I tell my friends to look up my site they get an error message saying ‘the site is private and requires an invitation’, I dont know why.
-
Hi there, what’s the address of the website you need help with? Once we know that we can point you in the right direction for support.
-
Hi, thanks for your response. The website is http://www.theluminousme.wordpress.com. Thanks.
-
In settings it says “public”, but my friends cannot find it and even I cannot find it without logging in to wordpress.com
-
Hello again, your site address is https://theluminousme.wordpress.com/ without the www. (No WPcom site address has www.) I just opened your site link in a Private browsing window in FF and was able to access it without problem.
Can you please explain what you mean by “cannot find it”?
Do you get an error page? Does the connection time out?
Have you tried accessing your site from a different connection?
Thanks for further clarification.

Hi, wow thanks for your quick reply. It does go redirect them to the WordPress site but then doesn’t show the pages, instead, it says “this site is private and requires an invitation”, something like that. I wish I could screenshot it. Also, my friends are from all over, Kenya and the USA mainly.
I would like the blogs to be visible to everyone. I cannot “find” the site on google even. I had another blog before that I deleted but I was able to find it on google and other search engines, but I cannot find this one. -
Ok-I’ve gone ahead and flagged this for Staff attention.
I’m able to see two blog posts on the front page; one from February 28 and the second from March 8. Your above blog is relatively new and it can take between 4-6 weeks before search engines will pick it up. In that time you need to continue posting quality content frequently.
But as I mentioned above, I am able to see your site theluminousme.wordpress.com without any messages about Privacy, even when viewing in an incognito window.
Have you hard refreshed your browser window?
Have you tried clearing your browser cache and cookies to see if that clears the issue?
Try that and let us know how it goes.

Hi there,
I am also not seeing any private messages that you are describing. Are you able to receive the same message some of your viewers are seeing? If so, you can screenshot it and upload it to your media library for me to see. Everything looks good from under your account and like @justjennifer makes me wonder if this is a cache related issue. Have you tried logging in using a different browser or clearing your browser’s cache? I would ask the users who have received the private message to do the same thing and let me know the results.
Thanks!

Maybe, let me try your suggestions and I will see what happens. I will screenshot the issue and I will email it to you in case I see it again. Thanks.

Hi,
I just got a screenshot of the site but I don’t know how to attach it here. Says “protected blog”. I tried to open it using a different browser. -
Go to My Site ->Site ->Media, and upload your screen shot there. We’ll be able to see it there. Please make sure your screen shot includes the full browser window, including the address bar of your browser.

I just checked your library and did not see a screenshot. I checked here:

Hi, thanks for your reply, maybe my wifi was too slow, can you check again and let me know, I have just uploaded it again. Thanks.
-
Hi there,
Thank you! So from the screenshot, I see that it is a totally different site you are referring to:
https://luminousme.wordpress.com/
That site is currently private but is not connected to the account you are contacting us from.
http://www.theluminousme.wordpress.com is publicly viewable and is under your account. Is https://luminousme.wordpress.com/ a site that you own?
-
Oh my goodness! So sorry, I have been totally missing the detail, the word “the”, yet it is my site. I don’t own the other site and I’m surprised there’s a blog whose name is so similar to mine. Thank you for pointing that out, I now feel like an idiot hahaha. Thanks a lot and take care out there.
