Why no more free .wordpress domains available anymore?
-
Hi!
I’ve been using the free wordpress.com option (mystic.wordpress.com) for a while – and I have 3 sites set up in this way.
Today, I tried to register a new domain (my domain.wordpress.com) however I was unable to do so – the only free options were domain.travel.blog and other weird configurations.
On this support page (https://en.support.wordpress.com/domains/) it says that it’s still possible to have a free.wordpress site – can anyone help me?
I thought maybe there was a limit to how many you can register on one account but even after I tried creating a new account the option still didn’t appear.
Any ideas? Thank you!

Update: whilst the free .wordpress option didn’t appear when I created the site I was able to change it from the random free blog.travel.blog rubbish to domain.wordpress.com through the site settings. Manage>Domains>Change Site Address.
Still strange that I had to do it this way!

If you select “Blog” when creating a free site you’ll be offered one of the new suffixes like .home.blog or similar. Choosing “Business” or “Professional” at step one should get you an offer of a .wordpress.com free address.
